    1. Can you please do the Rate evaporation of any chemical like corosive or flammable .
Take a an example Bromine is leaked from a storage tank then how much it is going to evaporate in normal temperature.
Like that could you please do on a above topic.
      Thank u

      1. Hii Rohit,

basically if a chemical is vaporized during some leakage or spillage then it indicates that it is capable of pushing air down and occupying its position, simply called buoyancy, which means the chemical vapour density is less than that of air.

For that instance consider the chemical vapour as an ideal gas,
then density = Mol. wt./22.414 carrying units of Kg/m3.

again use ideal gas law, PV = nRT, where V is the required factor.

        That's it !!

    3. Dear Ajay,
your post was fabulous and the thing was here, you given the calculation sheet works on room temperature only and it didn't work at any other temperatures (Addition temperatures). For ex: in my plant, we are adding Aluminium chloride in -5 to 0c. As per your calculation sheet, i got the mild exothermic but in practical that was highly exothermic. please correct if i am wrong or otherwise please provide the path for this type of issues.

      1. Hii Ramana,

lets say you have to add AlCl3 at -2.5 C and
the energy liberation as per RC be 2000 KJ/Kg,
the utility you choose be -20 C chilled brine
Reactor capacity be 5 KL SS316 with 50% occupancy.

        Addition rate is 1.59 hours.

As per your comment, the addition duration is lower than practical, right ?

This might be due to the OHTC, which is taken as 350 KCal/hr.m2.C,
Pl change it to 250 KCal/hr.m2.C,

while developing the calculator, i've given some values, those need to be changed as per our convenience.

Anyhow if you can provide me the actual data of your plant, then i can cross check whether any modifications are required in this calculator or not.

        Best Regards,
        AJAY K
